Summary/Objective
Banquet staff get to work long before the guests arrive. They set up tables and chairs, and lay out the tablecloths and place settings. They may set up a beverage station or buffet. Once the guests arrive, the banquet staff serves plates of food to guests, then they remove the plates, as the courses are finished. They refill water glasses, and replenish the utensils and napkins, as necessary. After the guests leave, the banquet staff collects used linens, glasses, dishes and cutlery.

- Performs all tasks associated with setting up, serving, and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed.
- Responsible for the prompt, courteous, smooth and efficient service of food and beverage to guests during banquet and out door functions.

Work Environment
Banquet staff work in the restaurants, meeting centers and conference and convention centers where food and beverages are served within the hotel. Banquet staff must maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness. They need to follow guidelines on grooming and appearance. Depending on the event, banquet staff may work evenings, holidays or weekends.
Physical Demands
The job is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing and walking. It is sometimes necessary to climb stairs. Banquet staff are typically expected to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and may occasionally have to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Stooping and kneeling are required, as part of banquet service.

2. M.A.S.T.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. GED or high school diploma
2. 1 year experience working in food service
